Morningside Community Guide for Edina Home Buyers and Sellers
Considered the first suburban development in Edina, Morningside was originally developed in the early 1900s.
Many modern home owners might not know this but Morningside was actually its own community, separate from Edina, starting in 1920. The community remained its own entity until 1966, which is when the community once again became a part of the greater Edina community for financial reasons.
Located in the northeastern part of the village, this community features gorgeous homes that are quite beloved by residents.
If you’re in the market for a home for sale in the Minneapolis area, you should consider checking out this neighborhood.
This Neighborhood Has Always Been Ideally Located
Located along the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line, this community was developed more quickly than the rest of Edina, which is mostly rural.
Today, this old streetcar suburb is a popular place to live, sharing borders with the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis. You can see that past development in the landscape today. For instance, this community boasts a relatively high density of people per square mile.
It's the Best Place to Make Friends with Your Neighbors
More than that, however, Morningside is a place to get to know your neighbors well.
After all, this community boasts an active neighborhood association, which holds regular community events and even has a babysitting co-op.
Supportive Schools and Fun Activities
Residents are also quite active in supporting the local schools in the area, which helps local children to achieve.
Neighbors also tend to bond over all of the community amenities in the area. For instance, Morningside is convenient to a number of parks, lakes, restaurants and shops.
And for day excursions, there are plenty of shopping, dining and recreational amenities in the greater Minneapolis area as well.
Types of Homes for Sale in Edina's Morningside Neighborhood
There is a mix of single-family homes and bungalows in Morningside. Many of them were built between 1905 and 1936.
Because of the preservation of these properties, Morningside is considered a historically rich neighborhood with a strong sense of community and a unique village-within-a-city feel.
